Breakfast at Tiffany's Before and After

I should probably wait until I have the room done......but if I did that it may be Christmas before I share. I have been lurking on sites such as Knack, Life in the Fun Lane and Thrifty Decor Chick to name a few. Please look at my blog list....there are so many talented women out there. They have so inspired me to get my house in order. I want to live in pretty and for a reasonable price.
Take this dresser. Kind of boring. Had it for 9 years as this brown blob. It has good bones, it is a Hill-Rom. So it probably was in a hospital at one point. I have two of them exactly the same. So when I decided to redecorate the spare bedroom I thought aqua because supposedly it is the color of the year. I went to Home Depot and got some spray primer, aqua spray paint, and white lacquer spray paint and got busy!!
Here is the before.

Sorry about the photos. There must have been something on the lens.

And ta da.......After!!!!
I am going to have to accent in 'diamonds' some where in the room. I just found a cool chandelier for 10 bucks that I am going to give the white lacquer treatment to....maybe diamonds will hang from there or a cool mirror...oh the possibilities.

I am not sure if I should rough up the paint a little or antique it. What do you think? As the Thrifty Decor Chick would say.....I Lurve it!! Can't wait to garage saleing (sp?) this summer.... my kids want in on the action too!! That way I can paint outside, before I bring it in.

hum... from this angle it looks like I may need to spray it some more in the front. In real life it does not look like this.

What have I been doing for a whole month of no posts?

Where do I begin? I have been dealing with one cold or ache after another. January is typically not my favorite month of the year. I think I suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder). My son just got over having pneumonia. Here are few new bags that I have worked on. Most of what I am doing right now is IOU's and special orders.

This lavender bag was for Renee from her husband. What a sweet husband!!! Happy Birthday Renee!!

Lavender with Flower $120 Sold!!!
This bag is for my friend Vickie. She said she loves humming birds. So this is what I came up with. The inspiration for this bird came from here. I love how this turned out. Please feel free to give me new suggestions for pretties on my (your) bags.

This bag is a monstrostity. It is my overnight bag. I LOVE it!! I have been wanting to make myself one of these since I started making bags. I was starting to feel like the cobbler's kid with no shoes.

It is sooooooo me!!!

This bag is for Sonya. She sent me this sweater and belt and this is what it turned into.
Isn't she loverly?? I love the buttons!!!

This picture does not do it justice. There is a little bit of bling in the center of this button.

a bag for skylar!!

Skylar Paxton
These are the closest cousins to my kids. We have such a wonderful time when we get together!!

I cant believe I did not take any photos of these two while they were up here. This on our way out the door to the Flint airport at 4:30a.m. in the morning....notice I am nowhere in the picture...
This bag is for my niece Skylar. She and her brother came up for Christmas break. We had a wonderful time making this bag out of vintage fabrics, drinking coffee, making cookies, going to movies or watching them here, shopping, doing our hair and makeup (well...Paxton did not partake in the last two things;)...).

Happy Birthday to my dear Spencer....the big 9 today.

OK,... I know this is not the most flattering picture of me but we are focusing on my first born Spencer in this post. This was Christmas morning 2009. I forgot to buy them new jammies this year. Now I know why I buy them new jammies....for all the pictures we take on Christmas morning. I remember my photos always had me looking like a bomb had gone off in my head and my jammies were always weird.
This is Spencer's favorite candy bar.

This is a great photo of him. He has matured so much in the last few months. Hard for me to explain.

This was his favorite gift. It took him about 5 hours to put it together.

We went skiing tonight for his birthday. He is starting to get really good.
I am wanting to go on a cruise this year.....we may have to take a trip out to Colorado next year.
He got to go over a jump in the hill...thought he was big stuff. Owen freaked out that he did not get to do it. Maybe next time!!!
Happy birthday my wonderful son!! Can hardly believe you're half way to 18 (yikes!!!) I need to catalog more of my life with my boys. It is fun to look back. If I can figure out my scanner I will put some photos of when he was younger. We just got a new computer so the oldest photo I have on here is 3 months ago.

Cream with Burgundy and Cream Flower

This bag is made from a Bannana Republic Sweater and Coach belt. The sweater felted up thick and yummy, the belt is a Coach (not much more to say about that...), and the interior is a delicously superior upscale fabric. The flower on the front is a pin so you can take it off if you like and use the flower for your coat.

$135
Going to SoBo Style!!!
Vintage button.

This is a woven, satiny, wonderful to touch fabric.

Sweater Jacket

I started making sweater jackets when I found a few sweaters that felted to the perfect size of a little sweater jacket. This one happens to be for an 11 year old girl.

She started out as this.....and then I thought, this is nice but
looks too mature.
So, I went with this. I LOVE it!! I want to make myself a chocolate brown one very similiar to this. Can't wait to show it to you.

I absolutely love how this turned out. I hope to find more cashmere sweaters. Yea, I forgot to mention that this sweater is part cashmere.....yummy!!

Bags available for sale

The best and most current information to know which bags are for sale and where they are is to go to the "location and prices of bags". Then click on each location to see what is available.

Or click here.

I am still working on the best way to do this.

These are the new bags on the mannequin for size

Most of these bag need to be seen in person. There is a lot of detail that goes into each of them and the insides are fabulous. I have several different very upscale upholstery fabrics in them. Some of these fabrics $100-250 a yard. Yummy!!
(please scroll down to the next post for pricing)
